Continuing my print reports, i have been asked to look at Richard Hamilton. I know that he is considered one of the first pop artists.
The first image that i thought was interesting was this....
I found out this is an unfinished series. It is really interesting to see these like this, in its stages.
I love the colours, so bright ! This is a really interesting to see! and i cant wait to do screen printing for myself to understand it more!

My Marilyn Screen print on paper 1965 |
This image was made from photographs of Marilyn Monroe, i love the pink and grey colours in this, and what are the crosses? i know these were published after her death, are they to do with the artists mental state? and the pink colour is a contrast of that as it is associated with women, or being feminine. OR is is a girly / childish mark for a kiss? the way the mark is made it looks like the first one to me. I know this is a screen print, and i don't know a lot about screen printing really, but it is something i know we will get to do in class! The next image i came across was this:
Swingeing London III 1972
But then i found almost a progression of it?
