Starting experimenting with photography

After looking into the work of Henry Weston i decided to try and experiment,first, with negative space. It was something that stood out to me a lot in some of his work, as i spoke about in my report. i started by just taking a few pictures as i noticed it around me.

I think these are a very interesting start and have a lot of potential, i decided to play around with the editing a bit by cropping them, changing the contrast and making them black and white. 

i like this image and i think composition wise it works. i also think it looks good in black and white as it has gotten rid of the chance of clashing colours and sets a different kind of mood. The subject is in focus and it looks quite sharp. I cropped it a little and changed the contrast and exposure. 

i prefer this image to the top one as i like the spacing between the feet compared to the first one i think it is more visually pleasing, i also rotated this image just as an experiment.

i quite like that just by flipping an image around it gives you a different view on the image, the first one looks like i have my feet on a wall but after flipping the image it looks like i am standing on the ground. 

I started by cropping this as there was the top of the wall showing, that i did not think looked good. I was looking at this image and the way the light was shining i thought made it look quite old so i decided to try and accentuate that by using a sepia tone. i quite like how this image looks, it reminds me of an old school picture of my granddad.

After putting these on the blog page my mind went on a bit of a tangent, i thought they could look interesting as one image so i decided to try that.

I was not sure if i liked the space in the middle to separate the image, so i decided to try it with no gap.

After trying it with no gap, i decided i preferred it, but i released what i liked about it was the mirror image of my eyebrows and the symmetry.  

I then thought what if it was not a mirror image, what if i shifted it along but kept one eyebrow mirroring the one above.

I liked the idea of this and i think it is an interesting idea. I also decided to do the same with the images of my feet  but use the same image instead of two.

I decided to flip it around to a landscape view and see how it looked.

i think this is very interesting and it has made me think of a new way to edit photographs instead of having just one image on its own, i can see myself using this technique and taking it further. I decided to expand on the idea of negative space outside at the end of this week and also experiment with the other things i have learned from looking into Henry westons work. I think this is a good start and it defiantly got the ball rolling.
