Starting another printmaking report i decided to look at Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, he was a German expressionist painter and printmaking.
I really liked his woodcuts, i liked the scratchy, roughness of them and the shapes.I love how sharp and controlled it is as well as looking very loose.
I think i see a connection because they are so sharp and expressive, they show real emotion, as these models need to be in a film. As well as the sharp facial features.
I really liked this print, to me it looks very theatrical but there is a sadness in her face. Its interesting because i think just shifting the eyebrows or the tilt of the eye could change the entire mood of the print.
I did find it hard to find images of his prints with the title and the medium from legit sources but I really like his prints that i found. I find them interesting.

Head of Ludwig Schames, 1918 - Woodcut |
These prints, i think, are very illustrative. They remind me of the style of stop frame animation characters in the newer films.
