Caitlin Steele came into college to show us her portfolio. Her portfolio was paper based with one digital piece, a Youtube video.
Caitlin Steele is studying Fashion Communications. Her portfolio was very small, she was telling us it needs to be constantly updated, no older than two years.
I thought this was completely different to the other portfolios we looked at because none of the other artists portfolio's we looked at mentioned keeping it up to date really. I did not see her creative process in the same way as i did with the others and she did not have a sketch book, but she did have a brief description of the work on the back of it.
Her work was passed around the room, i liked that i actually got to hold and really look at a piece of work rather than a photo of the work on a screen. Again i think this changes the mood or connection you make with the work. I think for the type of art Caitlin produced the printed portfolio works well. Her portfolio also contained a youtube clip of an event she organised. I had never thought of having videos in a portfolio, but of course, why wouldn't you? and especially for this kind of work.
This report is a bit smaller that the others because i find myself repeating myself now i have explored a few... i am defiantly enjoying looking at a wide range of portfolio's and different ways and reasons as to why they are paper based or digital. It something i did not think of much, but now something i have a better understanding of!
